Randa Jarrar wrote a book that can be described simply as a story from the moment the main character, Nidal, travel carry many to a house plan it actually restores the card brings to each step that moves life forward. The only thing the author Randa Jarrar is best for the story to be told by the narrator in an honest and very funny. This story takes the reader in and makes them friendly start feeling the girl that their actions are not usually good, but we can with joy when they are correct. This honest account is what worries me the main character and deepen their history and spiritual wisdom.
A MAP OF HOME is the first novel by Randa Jarrar, and because its international education, which is able to provide valid support in his creation of Nidal. Nidal was born in America, grew up in Kuwait and after the war, is forced to move to Egypt. After more trouble, she returned to America to live in Texas, while running in just 16 years. Along this confusing and changing climate, Nidal is forced to think of himself in the light of different cultures and nationalities, and is capable of even trying to understand his family and himself same. It's a very confused mind that is created from this.
Nidal committed some of his early years in Kuwait. There is a very good student at the same time to learn to handle the typical aspects of growth and address their own sexuality in dealing with all issues in the life of her own family. Baba works as an architect, but in fact a frustrated poet, while his mother wants to be a concert pianist and is finally able to get a piano. Then he spends his days playing classical music, but ignores its obligations as mother and wife. Nidal has a younger brother, but not discussed much and is simply part of the global family to catch. And for this family living "is" life, Iraq invaded Kuwait, and Nidal's family was forced to leave and return in the summer house, which was fortunate to have in Egypt.
When the war ended, Baba says he can not return to Kuwait as a Palestinian. It was then that Nidal was found in the United States living in Texas, as Baba find work and send the family to join to him. Nidal Imagine the reaction when they are in a caravan. However, Nidal went to school, and her mother put up with the strange customs and such treatment whenever asked if she speaks Spanish!
As old and new cultures are so mixed, the story ends in Nidal need to decide between staying his family moved to a different landscape for college. The story should ask for a suite and if you're like me, you're so caught up in the story of Nidal, said in a masterly way with the narrative style by Jarar who cares about what happens in its next phase of his life. I found it was easy to read, he had my interest and made me laugh aloud several times … not Nidal and his situation, but rather with him.
