Among the many species of geckos, leopard geckos are the type most commonly sold as pets. Their docile nature and gentle nature makes them ideal for pets and are relatively easy to maintain. However, like any animal they have some specific requirements that everyone who wants one pet leopard gecko must be aware.

If you have decided that this snake is the animal you want, take your time and learn as much as you can worry about your new pet before rush to the company's store, and provide a home. These animals can live long, so a pet leopard gecko is a compromise, should take very seriously. Leopard geckos can live for over twenty years, so make sure you're ready for that.

You will need a tank, as a habitat for the leopard gecko, a 15-gallon tank is enough for two – but you should never have more than one male per tank and be aware that if you have men and women in the same pan that geckos baby at some point.

Your tank should have Gecko branches or pieces of wood for your pet to climb, one thing that Leopard Gecko will enjoy it. As leopard geckos are lizards of the desert course, you may want to avoid using sand as bedding in their habitat. Beds can be swallowed while eating, which can lead to intestinal obstruction. The document is a good substitute – but, whatever the type of bedding you choose, should be areas of free beds to feed your pet to avoid accidental ingestion.

Geckos require a large amount of heat, but are not picky about having a bright light, an incandescent bulb one is easy during the day, but you need a daytime temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius) and night temperatures between 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit (21-24 degrees Celsius).

Like any other pet, the leopard gecko needs clean drinking water at all times. Use a shallow dish, so they have an easy time to reach its waters. For food, the insects are best. You must ensure you have a lot of crickets, mealworms and occasionally very rare treat of a wax worm (no more than once per week). Ask your pet store if insects are gut loaded, immature geckos need to cover their food with a calcium supplement with D3 power each. Adults need this accessory for all other foods.

If you have a young gecko, 4.5 that should be fed crickets daily, while the older leopard geckos eat twice, but only every other day.

Remember to never pick up the leopard gecko's tail, go – and grow new tail can be a different color or shape of the tail they have lost.
